Cosmol 222 is a cosmetic-grade ester marketed by The Nisshin OilliO Group. Its INCI name is Diisostearyl Malate. It is a high-polarity di-ester supplied as a colorless to pale-yellow, viscous liquid and is widely used as an emollient, pigment dispersant, binder, and texture-enhancing ingredient in color cosmetics and skincare formulations.

Cosmol 222 provides excellent spreading and a smooth, rich skin feel while improving the gloss and luster of finished products. It has strong pigment-dispersing and dye-solubilizing properties, making it particularly valuable in lipsticks, lip glosses, foundations, and other color cosmetics.
