Carbomer 940 is a high-molecular-weight, crosslinked polyacrylic acid polymer widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations as a thickener, gelling agent, rheology modifier, suspension aid, and emulsion stabilizer. It appears as a fine, white, fluffy powder and is capable of producing crystal-clear gels with exceptionally high viscosity at very low concentrations. When dispersed in water and neutralized with a suitable base such as Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Triethanolamine, or Aminomethyl Propanol, Carbomer 940 hydrates and swells to form a stable three-dimensional gel network.
