Sunsphere H-53 is a specialty spherical porous silica supplied by AGC Si-Tech and designed for cosmetic applications. Its INCI name is Silica. It consists of spherical, multi-microporous silica particles with very high oil-absorption capacity. AGC identifies H-53 as its highest-oil-absorption grade in the Sunsphere series, making it particularly useful for reducing oily or tacky sensations in cosmetic formulations.

Sunsphere H-53 provides a smooth, dry, silky tactile feel and can contribute to a soft-focus effect, helping visually minimize the appearance of fine lines and skin imperfections. It can absorb excess oil and moisture and is useful for improving the texture and finish of makeup and skincare products. The grade has an average particle size of approximately 5 m, oil absorption of about 400 mL/100 g, and a specific surface area of approximately 700 m/g.

It is commonly used in foundations, pressed powders, makeup products, sunscreens, deodorant sprays, fragrances, and other formulations where oil absorption, mattification, and improved sensory feel are required. AGC specifically reports H-53 as useful for reducing tackiness in sunscreen formulations and producing a refreshing dry finish.
