Usage
Trimethylsiloxysilicate can be used over a relatively broad concentration range depending on the grade and application. Reported cosmetic use levels have ranged from 0.0001% to 30%, with higher levels possible in certain leave-on products. Typical formulation starting ranges: Foundation / BB / CC cream: 1 10% Sunscreen: 1 10% Liquid lipstick: 2 15% Mascara / eyeliner: 1 10% Primer: 1 10% Long-wear makeup: 2 15% Some commercial silicone-resin grades recommend 1 50%, depending on the resin composition and application.

TRIMETHHYL SILOXY SILICATE About

Trimethylsiloxysilicate is a silicone-based resin widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations as a film-forming, water-resistant, transfer-resistant, and long-wear agent. It is a highly crosslinked silicone polymer that forms a thin, durable film on the skin, hair, or cosmetic surface after application. This film helps improve the staying power of makeup and provides resistance to water, sweat, humidity, and rubbing.

Trimethylsiloxysilicate is particularly valuable in foundations, sunscreens, liquid lipsticks, mascaras, eyeliners, primers, and other long-wear color cosmetics. It helps improve pigment adhesion and keeps pigments more evenly positioned on the skin. It can also provide a smooth, silky finish and improve the overall durability of the formulation.

It is silicone-based and practically insoluble in water, so it is normally incorporated into the oil/silicone phase or supplied pre-dissolved in a suitable carrier such as Isododecane or Dimethicone. Commercial blends may therefore have an INCI different from Trimethylsiloxysilicate alone
